This is an interesting article showing that social media in the workplace is continuing to expand. Big companies are now using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. to interact with customers and solve customer support issues. Although we mainly see these companies interacting with customers, some companies are experimenting with communicating between associates in the workplace using apps like WhatsApp and Facebook as messengers rather than E-mail so that they are able to back track and find old messages easier. Video and banner advertisements sponsored by companies that are posted on social media are also gathering more attention as we are now watching about 66 minutes of video per day. It will be interesting to see how much social media in all aspects (advertising, sales, and customer support) continues to develop and expand over time.
